Ben and Iliana’s story began at the bustling Monastiraki metro station in Athens, where their paths set off an undeniably strong connection. Their story, woven with serendipity, surpassed cultural and geographical boundaries. When Ben proposed, it came as no surprise, as his inability to keep secrets from Iliana was apparent. The moment was no less magical. Beneath a floral arch in a picturesque Newcastle park, Iliana said “yes, marking the beginning of their modern fairytale. With Ben from Sierra Leone and Iliana from Mani, the couple now calls Edinburgh home. Their wedding in Mani was a destination event which brought together friends and family from across Greece, the UK, and beyond. The couple’s vision for the day, a contemporary yet idyllic celebration, was headed by wedding planner Jo Kourentzi from Decor Events. “Without her guidance, creativity, and support, it wouldn’t have been the same”, Iliana shared.
The ceremony took place at Arapakis Tower, where the couple exchanged vows under a vibrant floral arch decorated with hydrangeas. The venue’s charm, blending with its history and the location’s natural beauty, matched the couple’s vision. The welcoming hospitality of Dimtra Katsiorhi and her team at Arapakis Tower elevated the experience. The reception was a visual delight, thanks to the elegant decor, but also a culinary experience as it “left guests speechless” with the exceptional quality and preparation of traditional dishes, including jollof fried rice, a beloved wedding staple from Sierra Leone. “Not only did they get it so right, everyone went back for seconds,” Iliana beamed.
