Renee & Nikos: A Wedding Fusion of Greek and Lebanese Cultures in Monemvasia

REAL WEDDINGS

Renée & Nikos - A Wedding Fusion of Greek and Lebanese Cultures in Monemvasia

Monemvasia, the breathtaking Castle city founded by the Byzantines in the 6th century,  set the scene for a destination wedding where two cultures came together in perfect harmony.  Renée, from Lebanon, and Nikos, from Greece, wanted a celebration that would blend the richness of the couple’s heritages with the romance of Monemvasia’s dramatic landscape.

This wedding was no ordinary event but an experience with celebrations spanning three days!  The revelous atmosphere had all the ingredients – culture, heritage, music, culinary customs and flavors, set against the dreamlike background of Monemvasia’s epic views.

Planned by Mani Deco, the three-day traditional celebration was carefully designed to honor the traditions and customs of both families.    The festivities began with a pre-wedding party by the sea, where guests savored local delicacies, mingled in a bubbly mood, and enjoyed the stunning view of the mesmerizing coastline of Monemvasia. The evening just flowed with jubilance and laughter as friends and family came together on the eve of the big day.

On the day of the wedding, the bride arrived at the ceremony accompanied by musicians playing traditional Lebanese music, as she walked through the stone-paved alleys of Monemvasia. The groom, accompanied by traditional Greek music, on foot with friends, arrived at church before the bride, as custom has it.  He waited for his beautiful bride, with the bouquet in hand, in full anticipation.

The wedding was designed to celebrate this love story and to offer guests a deep sense of Monemvasia’s local culture. The menu and cuisine combined the best of Lebanese and Greek flavors as guests were treated to a colorful feast of traditional dishes. The extraordinary ambience of this multicultural mix, with the stone houses and medieval Castle architecture of Monemvasia, heightened the sense of romance. Throughout this scene, the atmosphere mixed excitement and deep emotion.

This was a destination wedding that united the traditions of two worlds, giving guests a genuine sense of beauty and legacy.  Elegance and cultural elements combined, highlighting the couple’s unique backgrounds. A wedding like no other, it was a celebration that will be remembered for years to come.
