Founded by the Byzantines in the 6th century, Monemvasia, the breathtaking medieval Castle city on the south-eastern coast of the Peloponnese, set the scene for a destination wedding where two cultures met in perfect harmony. Renée, from Lebanon, and Nikos, from Greece, wanted a celebration that would weave together the richness of their heritage with the romance of Monemvasia’s dramatic landscape.
This wedding was no ordinary event but an experience with celebrations spanning three days, infused with cultural heritage, music, culinary customs and flavors, set against the dreamlike background of Monemvasia’s epic views.

Planned by Mani Deco, the three-day traditional celebration was designed with care to honor the traditions and customs of both families. The festivities started with a pre-wedding party by the sea, where guests savored local delicacies, mingled in a bubbly mood, and enjoyed the stunning view of the mesmerizing coastline of Monemvasia. The evening just flowed with jubilance and laughter as friends and family came together on the eve of the big day.
On the day of the wedding, the bride arrived at the ceremony accompanied by traditional Lebanese music, as she walked through the stone-paved alleys of Monemvasia. The groom, accompanied by traditional Greek music, also on foot with friends, arrived before the bride, as custom has it, at the church, waiting, with bouquet in hand, the arrival of his beautiful bride.

The wedding was designed to celebrate this love story and to offer guests a deep sense of the local culture of Monemvasia. The menu and cuisine combined the best of Lebanese and Greek flavors and guests were treated to a colorful feast of traditional dishes. The extraordinary ambience of this multicultural mix, with the stone houses and medieval Castle architecture of Monemvasia, heightened the sense of romance, with an atmosphere that mixed excitement and deep emotion.
This was a destination wedding that united the traditions of two worlds, giving guests a genuine sense of the beauty and legacy of Monemvasia while highlighting the couple’s unique backgrounds. A wedding like no other, it was a celebration that will be remembered for years to come.
