Kate & Nikos - An Elegant Greek American wedding in Mani
The wedding of Kate & Nikos was a mix of beauty, finesse and the rugged character of Mani. The couple chose Areopoli, the land of their roots, for their most important and joyful moment- their wedding. They decided to celebrate their wedding in a setting deeply connected to their heritage and tradition.
Design & Details
Elena Kavvoura of Golden Leaf Events designed the event, which was nothing short of elegant. The overall aesthetic combined softness and texture, blending gracefully with the natural beauty of the Maniot landscape. The use of color and scale harmonized beautifully with the physical surroundings in a wedding celebration that looked luminous yet traditional and authentic. The venue’s elegance was further accentuated by floral details, which brought softness and elegance to the scene.
Florals brought texture and romance without excess: cascading white orchids for the bridal bouquet, abundant roses arranged in clear glass vessels. A Mediterranean touch of olive and greenery was added that rooted the design in its surroundings.
The tablescape layered elegance with subtlety. Woven chargers with gold beading, pale blue linen napkins, gilded flatware, and crystal stemware caught the afternoon light. White roses ran the length of the table in generous profusion, punctuated by gold candelabras and taper candles.
The ceremony, held in a traditional Orthodox church, honored Greek tradition. Floral arrangements of roses, lisianthus, and eucalyptus framed the ritual table where crowns were exchanged and rings blessed.
Roses, orchids and delicate seasonal blooms adorned the church, the ceremony and the reception tables. A touch of softness and a strong sense of finesse to the stone architecture and natural textures of the venue.
The bride carried an exquisite cascading bouquet of white orchids, a statement piece that complemented the elegance of her wedding dress and the overall aesthetic of the celebration.
Guests travelled from Ohio to celebrate Nikos and Kate’s love and the promise of a shared future. As the sun dipped below the horizon, warm golden light washed over the stone surroundings, creating a romantic ambience for the evening.
The Reception
The wedding reception, infused with style, had the air of an elegant yet relaxed event. Beautifully set tables, refined catering and a subtle interplay of light and texture created a scene with style, while remaining true to the spirit of Mani. Signature cocktails added a happy, celebratory note, inviting guests to the festivities.
As night fell, music and dancing transformed the gathering into a vibrant celebration beneath the Maniot sky. Every moment was captured with a natural, editorial eye by photographer Lefteris Kalampokas. The spontaneity and emotion of a wedding instilled with beauty, elegance, and fully connected to its roots.
